The Palacio de las Cortes Españolas
The parliament of Spain, in the Plaza de las Cortes, was built on the site of the former convent of the Holy Spirit. No longer occupied by the monks, it was used as the seat of the Congress between 1834 and 1841, before which the Congress had no fixed address. The tender called for the construction of the current building was awarded to the architect Narciso Pascual y Colomer, and the works were completed in 1850.

This museum houses a vast collection that covers the history of European painting from the Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century. Italian Primitives, German Renaissance, 19th-century American art, Impressionism, German Expressionism, and Russian Constructivism are the most widely represented schools and movements at the museum, whose impressive collection boasts more than 1,000 works of art.

St. Michael’s Market and Town Square
The Plaza de la Villa is one of the best preserved historical monuments in Madrid. It is located in the historic area, next to Puerta del Sol, and until recently, the capital’s City Hall was located there. You will know some anecdotes of Old Madrid.
