Join us on this excursion to the Doñana National Park of unique ecological diversity in Europe.
In this tour we will depart in the company of our official guide from Seville to the Doñana National Park, a protected natural area located in the provinces of Huelva, Seville and Cadiz.
The Doñana National Park is a mosaic of ecosystems that harbor a unique biodiversity in Europe. The marshland stands out above all, of extraordinary importance as a passage, breeding and wintering place for thousands of European and African birds. The Park is home to unique species in serious danger of extinction, such as the Iberian imperial eagle and the Iberian lynx.
Doñana is a confluence of a set of ecosystems (beaches, sand mountains, nature conservation, swamps …) that give this park a unique personality.
Our tour to Doñana will start in Puebla del Río, on the banks of the Guadalquivir and the entrance to the National Park. A village of great biological richness, we can observe aquatic birds such as flamingos, moorhens and horned coots.
We can also visit the wild olive forest, one of the best preserved in the area, where we can find one of the main breeding colonies of white storks in Europe. In its pine forest there are many nests of birds of prey such as kites and booted eagles.
The marshes receive each year more than 200,000 individuals of more than 300 different species of birds. We will also be able to contemplate the largest rice field in Spain, of great productivity and particular geography, scene of many shootings such as the film Isla Mínima.
We will continue our excursion to the north of the Doñana National Park, where we will visit the village of El Rocio, an old typical Andalusian village, famous for El Rocio, one of the most important religious pilgrimages on the planet. Here we will visit the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Rocío, where the traditional annual procession is held in pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the village of El Rocío. Every year this village receives more than one million visitors during the celebration of the pilgrimage,
We will continue our tour to the Acebrón Palace next to the Arroyo de la Rocina where we can visit another of Doñana’s ecosystems: the gallery forest. Here we will start a circular hiking route and we will get to know some of the original plant species of this natural environment.
At the end of this walk, we will relax for lunch and taste the typical cuisine of the area. We will then move on to the next ecosystem of our visit: the coast.
The beach of Doñana covers more than 30 kilometers and is the longest unspoiled beach in Spain. In a short tour we will find the curious mobile dunes, where we can observe the properties of the flora and fauna that occur in this ecosystem at the mouth of the Guadalquivir. In addition, if the weather is good, you can enjoy an invigorating swim.
When the day falls, we return to Seville. In our 4×4 we will travel through the wooded area of the Doñana National Park, to see some of the large mammals that inhabit this area such as the Iberian Lynx, symbol of the Doñana National Park.
